What is a seminar paper?
The term paper is generally an opening of a scholarly discourse in which one independently acquaints oneself with a subject, deals with it scientifically and presents personal views. The term paper allows the students to gain personal writing skills and knowledge acquisition, which is exactly what the lecturers are checking. Seminar papers can serve as a (part) exam. Depending on the subject and the university, there are differences in the required content and form. The seminar management makes the exact and specific requirements available, since there are hardly any similarities between many subjects, such as art and computer science. In both cases, quality is important.
In 5 steps to the perfect seminar work:
- topic selection
- Find material and literature
- Structure thoughts and substance
- Create a rough draft
- Proofreading and editing
When writing a term paper, you pay attention to the correctness and its originality. This combination is expressed in two directions – “problem overview” (compilation) and “exemplary study”.
The “problem overview” collects all existing contributions to a topic, theoretical and empirical. This information, theories, hypotheses and models should be clearly and easily explained in a simplified and systematic way. All data must be coherently enumerated so that the differences and similarities between the perspectives presented become clear.
The “Exemplary Study” is quite different. Here is presented a problem, a question or a phenomenon that has not yet been dealt with, or that should be dealt with / answered in at least one new way, theoretically or methodically. There is no collection of interpretations, but the review of certain existing hypotheses or the creation of new ones. In this study, you need a specific practical case to study.
